Our Team

Our Team

We hear this all the time..

“We love Feel Better Yoga because of the teachers. They’re just… different.”  Our yoga-sharing team is different, in the way we share yoga.

We think you’ll feel it, too. We share from our hearts & convey our true passion & authentic relatability in how much yoga does for us. All of us on our yoga-sharing team are just like you; busy moms & dads, college students, retirees.. people who discovered how much yoga changed (& still changes) our lives, & who now feel deeply fulfilled in sharing this with other people.

Our yoga-sharing team is hands down why people yoga with us & each person on our team is the heart & soul of our studios.

I’m big. My laugh is loud, my heart is enormous, and my ability to open my
senses when I’m in nature is everything.

this to reach peace when the internal chaos gets to be too much.

Born and raised right here in Burlington. Mom of three kiddos and two crazy dogs. Married to my best friend. Taught elementary school for 20 years before moving over to Elon University a few years ago. Developed a serious yoga obsession when FBY opened and I haven’t looked back since.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?
Yoga has taught me, and continues to teach me, the importance of being truly present for myself and those around me. Opening my heart and showing my true self allows me to really connect to people. And that awesome yoga breath…it calms me and makes me a nicer person.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?
Sorry, can’t choose. I love all music and my playlists range from 80s rock to country to pop to classical. BUT my favorite all time singer/songwriter is the famous Patrick Henry…especially when he is singing to me on our back deck.

why FBY?
It makes me happy. I came to fby for the yoga, but I stayed for the community and the connection to all these awesome humans. Don’t get me wrong, the workout is amazing. But I have met so many cool people and had so many new experiences in the last three years, much of it a direct result of being a yes at fby.

what makes you crazy?
This could be a long list, hahaha. I do have some road rage issues. Turn on your signal people, and get out of my way!

what qualities do you look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?
I want an instructor who empowers and inspires me. I love when an instructor allows for space to create and play on my mat. I also want my butt kicked and I want to sweat! I hope to be able to bring all this to my classes. I want to encourage people to step out of their comfort zones and get messy, because one more thing yoga has taught me is that the magic is in the mess.

what should people new to fby know?
Show up! Don’t put it off, don’t wait until you think the time is right…the time is now. You won’t regret it. Show up for yourself, show up for your loved ones…just show up. I can’t wait to see you there!

give us the 5 second scoop on you!
Hey! I’m Megan. I have 2 super cute boys, Parker and Fisher, my hubby (he’s cute too:) ), Phillip, and a fluffy chocolate labradoodle named Kai. By day, I work in employee wellness in a healthcare system and in my free time we all head to the beach any chance we get.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?
When life gets crazy, when it all piles on, when things go not so right, Yoga reminds me to breathe deep and helps me process life, thoughts, and some days just reminds me to slow down.

why FBY?
I always had a passion for yoga, to know more and grow in it but I would never walk through the doors of a "yoga studio." I always thought only people "who know how to do yoga" go to yoga studios and that wasn’t me. FBY gave me not just yoga but a community, a WARM welcome, and encouragement every step of the way. FBY reminds me that there’s no reason to go at life alone; we’re all dealing with the same ol’; stuff. Breathe, Sweat, Flow, Let it go! :)

what makes you crazy?
When my hubby takes the first bite of my food from my plate!

what qualities do look for in a instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?
An instructor that clearly has passion for teaching, and for sharing that passion with others. Someone who’s always looking to learn and grow and then share that with their students.

give us the 5 second scoop on you.

Mom of four and Abi to the happiest grandbaby on the planet. Married to my soulmate in every sense of the word.

Passionate about reading, writing, and teaching for liberation.
Already planning my next trip.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

Yoga helps me center myself in what matters. It brings me out of all the chaos and nonsense and anxiety in my head and back into a space of calm and choice.

It makes me a better mom, partner, and teacher.

quick - what are fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?

Jill's right--this is an unfair question.

I LOVE good music-- the Avett Brothers, Tori Amos, Jay-Z, Led Zeppelin, Erykah Badu.....there's no telling what's on my playlist but you can be certain the volume is cranked and I'm singing along.

"The Luckiest " by Ben Folds was the first dance at our wedding.

what makes you crazy?

I am a perpetual hand raiser. I volunteer for 9 gazillion things then get all burned out and cranky and overscheduled. See above information about yoga helping me center and prioritize.

what qualities do you look for in a yoga instructor & try to embody in your own teaching?

I want to feel seen, encouraged, and cared for. These qualities drew me to practice at FBY, and it's a vibe I want to help continue to cultivate as our community grows.

A lot of places will tell you you belong--I feel like FBY really walks the walk in that regard.

I want everyone I share yoga with to know that you belong in our space, just as you are, right now. You don't need to fix anything or do anything to be ready to yoga. You just need to show up and breathe.

give us the 5 second scoop on you:
mom, yogi, reader, volunteer, music lover, teacher. Things I am not: good at speaking Spanish (working on it!), someone that passes up chocolate

what does yoga do for you?

Yoga is so much more than what happens on your mat, it starts to change everything in your life once you learn the practice.

what's your top 3 fave bands & all time fave song?

Hozier, Vance Joy, Leon Bridges, all time favorite song changes daily, but lately it's Trouble Letting Go by The Avett Brothers

why FBY?

In my life I have a tendency to want the answer or solution right now, FBY reminds me every time I'm on my mat to trust myself, trust my body and my mind. I'm crazy for showing up and going big! FBY taps into my play side, and I love to look at everything upside down.

what do you look for in a yoga teacher & what do you hope your classes get from you?

When I practice, I want a teacher that allows space for creativity and play and all the heart openers I can handle. As a teacher, I want to uplift my students and show them they are capable of so much more than they think.

give us the 5-second scoop on you: 5 seconds means I have to move faster than I normally do and that’s why I love yoga. It slows me down even when I’m pushing toward a challenging pose. My two grown children are my “sonshines” and now that they don’t live at home, I try to cook less for me and my husband but stillhave a mini grocery store in my kitchen. I love making healthy yummy food andsweets. Sharing my love for food, movement, and connection with others fills my heart. My job as a speech language pathologist and health coach allows me to improve the lives of people impacted by stroke. I love helping people.

how has yoga made a difference in your life? When I started doing yoga 18 years ago, I told people I did it to balance the other forms of “exercise” I do. Over the
years, my practice made me stronger, gave me a place to be more present and quiet my mind. Spirituality has a subtle presence in my life because of my
practice and my soul is better for it.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song? This might have people running
away, but I’m a woman who speaks the truth : ) I love a lot of Broadway
showtunes, Indigo girls, and James Taylor. And I love nothing more than dancing to disco and pop music while singing the words even if I don’t know them. My
favorite song is, “Seasons of Love” (well at least that’s the one I can hear in my
mind easily).

why FBY?

Such a good question! I can do yoga anywhere, by myself, with others,
on the beach, or while I’m waiting in a line. I seek teachers whose style takes me out of my head and who captivate me with their words. In my early days of yoga, I used to wish I had a piece of paper nearby if a teacher said something that really
resonated with me. While personal sharing doesn’t come naturally to me, the powerful sharing at FBY has deepened my yoga practice. The studio is so unique; the different temperatures, various class formats, colorful art, and myriad of
words. I am excited and ready to share my words and unique practice with others.

what makes you crazy?

When my two sons and husband are watching a thing on
TV that involves a ball, net, bases, or yards, and they forget I’m in the room (until I
start cheering if there’s excitement!).

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your
teaching?

I feel lucky to have had some incredible instructors who have each
offered me insight and ambition to improve my yoga practice. An instructor who sees each person in the room and has the finesse to modify poses for all
students, makes me feel comfortable. When I practice alone, I incorporate
previous instructor’s styles and can often see and hear them in my mind. It is my
hope to take little pieces of my favorite teachers and use them in my teaching that
will be meaningful in its own way.

Brittany is the FBY lead. Come say "hello!" to this warm & super friendly lover of yoga!

5 second scoop on me:

I’m a mom of 2 sweet and beautiful girls. I’ve lived in Alamance county all of my life. I’ve currently lived in Gibsonville for the last 16 years and love our little community. I’m married to my high school sweetheart (Taylor). We’ve been together for about 10-11 years and married for 8 years this year. I have 2 degrees, a Bachelors in Psychology from UNC-CH and an Associates in Early Childhood.

How has yoga made a difference in my life?

I remember being a new mom about 6 years ago and not loving myself. Having all the new mom feels and the guilt that comes with being a mom as well. Not taking any time for myself. I decided to give heated yoga a try and I loved it! I loved the sweat and the 60 minutes it took me to get out of my head and into my body. Yoga has taught me to breathe. Yoga allows me to show up for myself and to take time for myself. Yoga has helped me learn to love myself. I give myself grace and show up as my biggest version of myself because of my yoga practice. Without yoga in my life, I honestly don’t know who I would be.

Why FBY?

I feel like I’m home as soon as I walk in these doors! I feel the love from everyone when I’m here. I feel like it’s ok to show up however I need to be that day, whether I’m rolling in like a hot mess or I’ve got it together. No matter how I show up, I know that I feel accepted because of this community and the love from everyone at FBY.

Quick- what are your top 3 fave bands/ musicians and all time fave song?

Honestly it’s ever changing. But currently
I love Bishop Briggs, Machine Gun Kelly, and Sam Smith! All musicians.
My current fav song that is on repeat these days is “At my best” by Machine Gun Kelly ft. Hailee Steinfield

What makes you crazy?

I’m not sure I could pick one thing but it would have to be, unorganization and not having a plan. That drives me insane! I have to take a lot of deep breathes sometimes.

What qualities do you look for in a yoga instructor and try to embody in your own teaching?

I love a yoga instructor that is friendly and open to sharing. It allows others to see the real and authentic version of the instructor, I feel that is so key in creating a relationship with a class. I also love an instructor that offers the chance to play in the class. This allows for time to have fun in your practice and also in your life!

give us the 5-second scoop on you

I grew up in Massachusetts and spent most of my life in the Northeast before moving to North Carolina in 2019! I love making and trying new food, nature, all things crime fiction and non-fiction, and spending time with family, friends, and my 11-year-old cat Gemini.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

Yoga is where I learned how to get out of my head and into my body & the present moment.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?

It changes day to day depending on my mood. Today I would say SiR, Tems, and Victoria Monet. Favorite song of all time is too hard but it’s a tie between Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and Chasing Summer (SiR) for favorite album.

why FBY?

At FBY I have discovered the freedom of being my most authentic self and letting others see me. I think this is the best gift to get and I wanted to be part of giving it to others!

what makes you crazy?

Olives, not sleeping enough, slow traffic

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?

I look for a yoga instructor who creates the safety for me to let go and experience the physical & emotional sensations that arise for me during a class, while also cheerleading me to try new things. In my practice, sometimes I need to focus on grounding and sometimes I need to stand outside of my comfort zone. I love an instructor who can guide me through all of that, sometimes within the same class! As a teacher, I accept you exactly as you show up AND I encourage you to find your edge in your body and in your mind.

give us the 5-second scoop on you:
Just started as a medical student at UNC! Grew up in Florida, so I am very new to the
gorgeous Chapel Hill area. I love good music, quality time with loved ones, anything that
smells good (candle, incense, perfume fanatic), and cooking. I am passionate about
helping others discover what lights up their lives.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

I can’t think of one aspect of my life that hasn’t been significantly altered by yoga. When
I began to practice seriously a few years ago, yoga became a lifestyle. My yoga practice
serves as a much-needed constant reminder to reconnect to myself and what matters
most to me. Yoga makes me a better sister, partner, daughter, student, etc!!

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?

This is hard I literally love so many different artists and genres.
I think if I had to pick 3:
John Mayer
Bon Iver
Penny and Sparrow
All time fave song: Landslide by Fleetwood Mac always gets me out of a funk

why FBY?

When I moved to NC, I was in search of a yoga studio that felt like the studio I went to in
Miami where I first fell in love with yoga. I tried a few studios and had no luck. Then, I
took my first class at FBY and my search was over. You truly feel better after leaving
FBY. It is such a supportive, uplifting, creative atmosphere.

what makes you crazy?

Not having some sort of schedule or organization. I need routine and structure.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your
teaching?

Creativity, challenge, play, and ease. I love teachers that guide in a way that lets you
discover yourself and patterns by direct experience in your body.
I try to share unique movements that feel good in my body while also offering up
variations to account for the individuality of every body.

give us the 5-second scoop on you
Hi friends! I am a graduate student at UNC training to be a therapist. I love puzzles, walks, the color blue,
coloring, a good playlist, sneakers, and all things yoga. I have been a vegetarian for 12 years and I love cooking
and going out to eat. I am a born and raised North Carolinian and I love to visit my parents in Charlotte or my
brother in Nashville. The mountains are my favorite part of NC and I love spending time there with family and
friends.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?
Yoga has helped shape me into the person I strive to be. Yoga has challenged me physically, mentally, and
emotionally and I see yoga and breathwork show up both on and off my mat. Going through teacher training was
extremely pivotal as a college student trying to navigate the real world and it allowed me to solidify my goals
and values. I hope to continue yoga for the rest of my life and will forever be grateful for this practice!

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?
I *LOVE* music! I think music makes yoga feel alive and I love crafting playlists for my classes. My music taste varies all the time but some of my all-time favorites are: Noah Kahan, Adele, Hozier, Still Woozy, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, and Briston Maroney (I couldn’t just pick 1!)
All time fav song is so hard but I would probably have to say Hometown Glory by Adele! It reminds me of my childhood and singing with my parents.

why FBY?
I love everything about fby! the energy, the physical space, the plants, the people, the safety.
FBY was actually the first yoga studio I ever tried, and it is what made me fall in love with the practice. I had tried yoga before and never liked it, but FBY got me hooked on the physical practice, the sweat, and the incredible sense of community. FBY became my second home during COVID as I ditched the traditional gym and wanted a way to get exercise and meditation into my daily life. I completed my 200 RYT training here during COVID and
knew that I needed to be a part of this wonderful team and share my love for yoga with others. After teaching in Burlington for 2 years and graduating from Elon, I migrated over to the CH location as I am a grad student at
UNC! I am so glad I never had to leave this community 

what makes you crazy?
Big messes, clothes on the ground, long stoplights, and dirty dishes.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your
teaching?
I look for teachers that incorporate "play" and challenge into their practice. Challenge might be trying a new pose or transition, or a challenge might be letting yourself stay in child's pose for half of class.
I love teachers who offer up funky poses or refreshing new sequences that keep me on my toes. I hope I am able to allow my students to try new things, fall out of a pose, laugh, and try again. Yoga is all about the practice and how it makes you feel, not all about getting it "right" or "perfect". I hope my students can see that and cherish their growth in a fun and playful way in my classes.

give us the 5-second scoop on you:

I grew up in a very small town in North Alabama, received my Bachelor’s and Master’s
degrees in Horticulture from Auburn University and moved to Greensboro in 2015 to
work for NC Cooperative Extension. In 2021, I moved to Burlington and started working
as a Horticulture Instructor at Alamance Community College, where I teach everything
from landscape design to pest management to plant identification. I live with my 10 year
old, 60 lb baby (dog) Buster, and I love being active, laughing too loudly, dogs,
documentaries, perfectly timed jokes, sparkling water, insects, and the color purple.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

I began yoga for the physical workout, but quickly realized that it is so much more than
that. I began taking the intentions set in classes and weaving them throughout my day,
and learning through yoga that I can be strong and soft, authentic and kind, grateful,
joyful, and more aware of my thoughts, emotions, and the present moment. It’s a
constant practice, but yoga shows up daily, reminding me that I always have the choice
- instead of staying in frustration, annoyance, etc., I can choose to be in ease,
acceptance, joy, wonder, etc. and that makes life so beautiful.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?

I feel like mine changes based on my mood and the vibe I’m going for. Machine Gun
Kelly, Foo Fighters, All Time Low are usually in my queue right now, but I also go
through phases of really loving a band (especially if I watch a documentary about them),
so my top 3 changes a lot. If I had to pick an all time fave song it would be Iris by Goo
Goo Dolls. That is my comfort song - I listen to it when I’m taking off in an airplane
(terrified of flying), when I’m trying to relax for sleep, when I’ve been through hard times,
that song has been there for me since high school.

why FBY?

FBY felt like home since the first day I walked into the Burlington studio. It has been the
first place in a very long time where I have felt like I belong. FBY allows me to show up
just as I am, wherever I am mentally and physically that day, and gives me the space to

practice however I need to. On my mat I have cried, laughed, failed, fallen, smiled, and
created beautiful movement and live-giving breath, and I have been healed, restored,
and challenged and have become the fullest expression of myself with the help of this
community.

what makes you crazy?

Clutter and disorganization, too many tasks and decisions (they always seem to come
at the same time), wasting time, and inequality.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your
teaching?
I love instructors that are human. When an instructor messes up their left and rights,
forgets a side, etc. it makes me feel like I’m able to mess up and be ok too. I also love
instructors who are fun, who invite play, who create an environment where I feel safe to
be my fullest expression and take what I need. I always try to offer variations to play, to
stay, and I try to remind everyone throughout class that they can take what they need at
any time. I want students to feel like I’ve got their back, that I would never judge them,
and that taking what you need is the most powerful way to honor yourself.

give us the 5-second scoop on you

I call myself an “art & sports” kid- both my artistic and physical practices make me who I am! As a yoga teacher and personal trainer, I love to help others reach their goals and find what makes them feel like their best selves. As an artist I make work with textiles, printmaking, and photography, and love styling spaces to make the world around me more beautiful!

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

Yoga has become an indispensable practice I can always come back to, whether it’s to drop into my deepest self or to openly connect with others. Since there will always be something new to work towards, I know my yoga is forever!

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?

Bands: Lord Huron, First Aid Kit, Hermanos Gutiérrez

Song: Wisemen by James Blunt

why FBY?

The FBY community is made up of individuals committed to never-ending growth, both inside and outside of the studio. When we come together to share in the practice of yoga, we lift each other up.

what makes you crazy?

I am crazy about collecting and being collected by people in my life. To me, there is nothing more fulfilling than finding the people who you want in your life forever -exactly as they are- who feel the very same way about you!

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?

I look for the drive to always be leveling up, whether it be in their physical practice or how they show up in the world. I try to embody this sense of constant growth by releasing attachment to perfection and embracing practice as “presence and process” when I share yoga.

give us the 5-second scoop on you

Outside of yoga I am a social worker, lover of books, and adventures!! I graduated from Elon in 2020 and have called Burlington home ever since. I hate cooking but love enjoying food. I am a lover of learning and trying new things!

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

Yoga has made all the difference! Yoga has helped me connect deeper with myself which has allowed it to be easier for me to connect with others.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?

This really could change day by day and hour by hours. Right now I am really into Facesoul, Pitbull, and my newest artist obsession is Dominique Fils-Aime. My all time fave song is When I See You by Fantasia.

why FBY?

FBY has become my home away from home! The FBY community has become the family that is always there to celebrate my highs and support me in my lows. it truly is one of my favorite places to be <3

what makes you crazy?

Loud chewing!

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?

Authenticity, warmth, safety, and support. I try to embody this by showing up as I am in the moment and being open to share myself with others. I am very intentional about creating a space where, I hope, people feel safe enough to feel all the feelings and explore all the things knowing that I’m there for them every step of the way.

give us the 5-second scoop on you:

I am a transplant to Graham, North Carolina. I graduated
from Elon College in 2000; yes, it was just a college back when I graduated and I was a Fighting
Christian. In 2011, I earned a graduate degree from the University of North Carolina in Literacy
Education. I am someone who rarely sits still since I am a wife, a mom of two boys and a high
school teacher. Jamie and I have been married 18 years and we met while teaching at a
private Catholic School outside of Washington, DC. In 2006, we moved to North Carolina with a
baby and no jobs to Gibsonville and the rest is history. As a family, we enjoy glamping, biking,
paddle boarding, and traveling. Jamie and I also enjoy going to country concerts whenever we
can! My boys are 17 and 12 and both very active in cross country and track. We have a
Goldendoodle named Stella, a bunny named Peter & two chickens. Honestly, there is rarely
a dull moment in our house. My favorite place is the beach where I can sit and watch my boys
enjoy the water and read. I love reading in my spare time, but I don’t read many books that
have literary value. My favorite genre is romance. I have been practicing yoga for the last five
years at Feel Better, and I plan to continue to teach yoga once I retire from teaching.
how has yoga made a difference in your life?

I am a very fast paced human who is always on
the go & rarely sits. I started going to yoga to slow down and take time for myself. I never
went to power; I only went to slow flow, deep stretch & recharge classes because that is
where I needed the most work. At the beginning, these classes were so hard and a huge
struggle for me, but now I love them because I know it is what my mind and body need. After
five years, I have a good balance between stretching and power classes.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?

This is a super challenging question. My
husband and I love going to country concerts. My all time favorite band is Old Dominion; we
have seen them in concert four times and look forward to the next time we have the opportunity
to see them. In general, I like most types of music except rap. I try to create playlists in my
classes that include music for everyone.
why FBY?
FBY is a community where we look out for one another. I love that FBY is a
community of people who are loving and accepting of everyone. I wouldn’t want to yoga
anywhere else.
what makes you crazy?

There are so many things that make me crazy, but yoga has taught me
when things/people are making me crazy, to go to my breath. I would say this is a work in
progress & something I will have to continue to work on. I am a person with a lot of “rules” but
the older I get the more relaxed I am becoming.
what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your
teaching?

When you come to one of my classes I can promise it will never be like a previous
class because I speak from the heart & never hold back with what comes to my mind. I love
to share honest & real stories that are happening in my life.

give us the 5-second scoop on you:

I have lived in Virginia my entire life until now! I grew up outside of Richmond
and went to college in Harrisonburg at JMU (Go Dukes!!). I have recently
moved to Chapel Hill from Virginia Beach where I lived for 5 years! I love all things outdoors, especially being by the beach. I am passionate about helping
others (currently working in elementary education), which now includes
helping others flow and move their bodies through yoga!

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

Yoga started for me when I was in college and needed an escape from
studying mostly with online youtube videos and I have been practicing ever
since. It slowly transformed when I moved to Virginia Beach and found a hot yoga studio that I fell in love with. Yoga was my time where I could destress
and take time to work on my wellness. Not only did it help my mental wellness
but it began to increase my strength, balance and flexibility. I had found a
community where I could connect with outside of work and have made many
lifelong relationships with people who I never would have thought I could
connect with.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?

My love for music is hard to narrow into top 3. I love all genres and can vibe to
most anything. If you have seen me in a class you will see me dancing
along/singing along to any song that is playing.
John Mayer
Stevie Nicks/ Fleetwood Mac
The Notorious B.I.G
Favorite song: Anything sung by above!

why FBY?

Being brand new to the CH area I knew no one. I walked into FBY and
immediately felt the sense of community and passion everyone shared in this
space. The plants and beautifully designed studio just felt like a second home.
The people who share yoga at FBY have created a space that promotes
growth, healing, safety and warmth (literally). I quickly made connections with
many people in the studio and I knew I wanted to be a part of it.

what makes you crazy?

Being stuck in traffic!!

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them
in your teaching?

The instructors that have made the biggest impact on me are the ones that
take the time to make personal connections with me. Everyone at FBY has taken the time to even just remember my name and that goes a long way
when you feel seen and noticed. It makes you feel welcome and a sense of
belonging. I am hoping I am able to make the same impact on others that
others in this role have had on me. I hope to foster an environment that
promotes growth, sense of purpose, safety and a place where you can show
up on your mat and be YOU.

give us the 5-second scoop on you

Originally from New York, I’ve lived in North Carolina for 5 years and absolutely love it! I’m a dog mom to the most amazing pittie named Josie. When I’m not sharing yoga I work as a Fitness Manager at F45 Training in Greensboro and co-host a women's wellness podcast called Back to Basic Breath! I’m a beach lover, and I could eat avocado toast every day of my life and never get sick of it.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

Yoga has reminded me to slow down and check in with myself. The connection to the breath through my yoga practice has allowed me to truly regulate my emotions and pull myself out of negative thinking spirals. My yoga practice is also a huge reminder that everything is temporary and sometimes we need to sit in uncomfortable emotions or feelings to grow

Good Days- SZA

why FBY?

I love the connection I always felt from my teachers, even if I didn’t know them personally. I also love the emphasis on seeing how poses FEEL rather than how they look. It allows you to truly check in and be present with yourself instead of hyper focusing on simply what your body looks like in different poses. It allows your practice to truly be your own and I think it’s so cool how in most classes two people next to each other could be doing two completely different things.

what makes you crazy?

People who don’t have compassion or empathy for others. As human beings it’s so important to remember that everyone has a story or things going on in their lives. We should always be kind and it drives me crazy when people forget that we’re all just trying to do our best.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?

Passion and play through and through!

give us the 5-second scoop on you: I grew up in CT and spent my 20s & 30s in the DMV, where I fell in love with my husband and discovered hot yoga. We wanted a slower pace and no snow, so we made our way to NC. I’m a mom to two amazing kids, Logan and Leucas, who inspire me daily and encouraged me to become a yoga teacher. They even help me practice! We also share our home with two quirky cats, Coconut and Ash, who keep life interesting.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?  Yoga’s my space to just be myself and figure out who I am. Some days I’m playful, other days I’m serious. I can be happy, sad, content, or even a mess—and that’s perfectly fine. It’s not about perfection; it’s about showing up as I am. It’s a place where I can be curious, explore, let go, and just be me, with no pressure. And whatever I discover on my mat, I bring it with me into the world, using it in other parts of my life.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song? Carbon Leaf, Aerosmith, Pink and Pink Floyd.  Let your troubles roll by, Dream On, Cover Me in Sunshine, and Comfortably Numb… and I can’t leave out Trampoline.

why FBY? I love how it brings together such a mix of generations, personalities, and lifestyles.  I also really appreciate how you're invited to embrace what feels right for you and leave the rest.

what makes you crazy?
When the top of my yoga mat doesn’t line up with the tape on the floor, when more than one person talks at the same time, and my kids!

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?

I look for an instructor who helps me feel connected—to myself and the people around me. Someone who creates a space where everyone feels welcome and like they belong, no matter where they are in their journey. That’s what I try to bring to my teaching. I focus on being present, really listening, and meeting people where they’re at. Whether it’s through a smile, some encouragement, or just making space for people to show up as they are, I want everyone to feel part of something bigger.

give us the 5-second scoop on you
I’m a public health nerd, birth doula, yoga-lover, cat mom, live music fanatic, aunt, daughter, & friend!

how has yoga made a difference in your life?
Since I started becoming truly dedicated to my yoga practice a few years ago, I have noticed huge shifts in my relationship to myself and my body. Yoga has helped me get out of my head and out of my own way, inspiring me to be more confident and grounded on and off the mat. This practice helps me be aware, intentional, grateful, and healthy! I am a better student, researcher, doula, friend, daughter, aunt, and all-around human because of this wonderful practice and I am so lucky to share it with this community!

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?
It’s tough, but dr. dog, big thief, fleetwood mac are always on rotation!

Wildflowers by tom petty takes the cake for all-time favorite song!

why FBY?
When I moved to Chapel Hill, I was looking for a new studio and community. I remember feeling a bit lost post-college. I went into FBY to check it out and was immediately greeted by warm smiles and people who genuinely cared- about me, about yoga, and about other people. I immediately fell in love with the studio, especially the Avett Brothers quote on the wall, and knew that this was a place I felt safe, seen, and at home.

what makes you crazy?
When my schedule gets too booked up- I need time to unwind and rest every day!

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?Trying to connect with all the different people in the room and enjoy this flicker of time we have together through sharing, assists, and an eclectic playlist!

give us the 5-second scoop on you

Although I was born on Long Island, NY, most of my life has been spent in North Carolina. I graduated from Bucknell University with a degree in History and Sociology.  Austin, Texas was home while I earned a degree in nursing from UT-Austin.  After several years working in Obstetrics, I found my true calling as a school nurse and I have never looked back.

I love spending time with my family, especially my grandson. On Saturday afternoons in the fall you will find me watching college football- a passion I inherited from my Dad. Most people don’t know that I have a third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, but that’s another story.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?  Yoga has helped me become more self aware. I face challenges as they come up by responding rather than reacting to them. Breath work is the key and yoga has taught me the power that my breath has in changing outcomes for myself and those around me.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?

My music taste is pretty eclectic. Nat King Cole’s Unforgettable has always been one of my favorites, but I also love Steely Dan- Reelin in the Years.

Bob James- jazz musician who wrote the theme for the sitcom Taxi- now I am dating myself.

Petite Biscuit, a new favorite, thanks to a good friend at FBY.

why FBY? From the  first moment I walked into FBY more that 5 years ago I felt welcomed, seen, and supported. No matter how I am feeling or what my day has looked like, walking into the studio I find peace, comfort, and a space that I can be truly me.

what makes you crazy?  Getting all situated in bed at night, about to fall asleep, and suddenly not being able to remember if I actually set the alarm or not.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?

An instructors passion shines through in their class. They give you opportunities to grow and challenge yourself and at the same time the space to take what you need.  I appreciate an instructor who can make me smile and even laugh during class. When this happens I remember not take myself so seriously, I am relaxed and my best self.
I tend to always see the glass as half full, finding gratitude for the little everyday things, and I want that to come across in my classes. I want my students to feel supported.  A quote from Theodore Roosevelt sums up my thoughts best, “Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care.”

give us the 5-second scoop on you:
I am a mom to three kids, proud social worker, advocate for health and social justice,
avid reader, lover of yoga, and all things floral. I was born in South Africa and grew up in
California, spent time in Washington D.C. and Boston, and now call Chapel Hill home.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

I started doing yoga in college and then more seriously while studying abroad in Nepal.
This was one of the most self-reflective, independent, joyful experiences of my life.
Yoga made me feel grounded, but with school, work, marriage, kids... I stopped
prioritizing yoga when I needed it the most. FBY has renewed my sense of connection
and joy. Now, precisely because of a full, messy, beautiful, busy life, yoga has helped
me be a better version of myself, especially off my mat.

Fave bands & all time fave song:

This is hard! It depends on my mood, I like old and new: Tom Petty and the
Heartbreakers, Queen, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Vampire Weekend, Brandi Carlile. I
love the music at FBY, it’s so eclectic and brings such good energy to every class.
All time fav song (easy!)... “Don’t stop me now” by Queen.

why FBY?

FBY is one of the best gems of Chapel Hill! I love everything about FBY: The studio is so beautiful, the people are down to earth,
the light, the plants, the art, the quotes, the practice is so FUN... it’s inviting and
welcoming. You really do feel better (wayyy better) when you leave.

what makes you crazy?
Indecision! I like to make a decision and move forward to the next thing (this is precisely
why I need yoga, to learn to sit with things and slow down). I don’t like chipped nail
polish or the sound of someone cracking their knuckles.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your
teaching?
I want my yoga instructors to be real and to approach teaching in a way that welcomes
EVERYONE. Students in class should feel like there is something to gain every time
they show up. Regardless of whether you are a seasoned yogi or brand new, young old,
flexible, or not, I like teachers who find ways to make everyone feel welcomed and that
their time and effort to be at yoga is well-spent and valued.

give us the 5-second scoop on you:

Born & raised in Greensboro NC with a passion of the arts from a very young age. If not in the studio, you can catch me traveling, working out, reading, or studying the entertainment industry.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

Yoga is truly my happy place. With life coming in so many different waves, yoga has taught me the importance of ME. It has given me so much peace and joy also opening the door to a lot of things I didn’t know I was capable of while staying grounded and balanced.

My life journey comes alive when practicing yoga, allowing me to see things for what they are, yet believing in the possibility of comfort, solitude, and compassion.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?

I honestly love all styles of music. From Afro beats to Adele. Anything with a good beat you’ll catch me vibing to it.

FBY is truly a place where you can be yourself through the glory & the mess. It’s a space where you can discover so many different possibilities while seeing that nobody’s perfect. Every time I leave FBY, I notice a complete shift in my mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. It really is a special place.

what makes you crazy?

Not having a plan and being unorganized.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?

Being able to see that you are imperfectly, perfect. Warmth. Comforting. Passionate. Welcoming. Pushing you to reach your edge, while still acknowledging the gratitude in being where you are today. Also, being down to be creative & try new things!

FBY is truly a safe space.
From my first day, I was welcomed with open arms and encouraged to try on everything. To play. To reflect. To see and be seen. I

been one of the best years of my life.

Not doing yoga.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your

on them.

Yoga has provided me with a space to heal, to grow, and to feel at peace. It remains a
constant in my life and continues to shed light as I navigate this journey.

Top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave songs?
One of my favorite things is constructing playlists. I like a little bit of everything, but if I
had to choose a few I would go with Odesza, Tate Mcrae, Noah Kahan, Mac Miller, and
the Lumineers. All time favorite song would have to be Stubborn Love by the Lumineers!

Why FBY?
FBY has become a home away from home. Moving across the country for school left me
feeling alone in this unknown area. The studio provided me with a space where I felt safe,
valued, and seen.

What makes you crazy?
People who make you feel wrong for doing the things that you love!

What qualities do you look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?
Energy is everything. I like when my instructor feels present, supportive, and positive. When I
am in the studio I try to radiate only energy that makes others feel good. I value trying new
things, showing up as your truest self, taking what you need, and enjoying the present. Good
music and good vibes take priority in my classes!

I look for someone with a calming presence but also knows how to get energetic! I think I have a natural calm demeanor which helps people relax around me and I think that’s perfect for a yoga class!

give us the 5-second scoop on you
Hi everyone! I am a student at Elon University studying law! I am from New York where i grew up with my two older
brothers and my adorable puppy Rosie! I love to run, listen to music, watch movies, spend time with my friends, and
practice yoga!
how has yoga made a difference in your life?
Yoga has helped me in so many ways that I can’t even explain. I began my yoga journey at Feel Better, having taken
my first class in the beginning of my sophomore year. Since then, I have continued to be inspired every day and I
have learned more about myself than I could’ve hoped. The lessons that I have learned on my mat have followed me
through all different aspects of my life and into all my close, personal relationships. Having gone through the YTT this
past February has helped to understand myself on a whole new level and allowed me to find clarity in my life.
top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?
I love music so this question is always a hard one for me. I could listen to any type with any artist at any time, but if I
had to decide on just three I would probably say The Lumineers, Noah Kahan, Phoebe Bridgers and Billy Joel… I
know that was four but I have a special connection to Billy Joel through my dad so I felt like I had to include it!
why FBY?
There are a million reasons that I could list here but I think the most important thing that I could say is that stepping
into my very first yoga practice at FBY initially felt like something scary and foreign to me, but by the end of class, I
felt an overwhelming sense of belonging and excitement. I have never walked out of any yoga class feeling the way I
did that day and the way I now feel every time I walk out of that heated room. The love and excitement that each
teacher shares with their class is completely unmatched by anywhere else that I have been. I loved how
non-judgmental the environment felt and how welcoming the physical and emotional space was. FBY continues to be
my favorite part of the week and I am so fortunate to have found it!
what makes you crazy?
I would say I’m a pretty calm person and most people would tell you it takes a lot to boil my blood. This is with one
exception. I have pretty bad road rage. Being from New York has made me accustomed to aggressive driving and
fast drivers that as you move down South you don’t see as much. So I’d say my biggest pep peeve would definitely
have to be slow drivers and long traffic lights!
what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?
I look for instructors that practice both physical and emotional presence in their teachings. I still remember walking
out of my class and being amazed with what my body had done, but also thinking about everything the instructor had
shared during their class. That day, the instructor spoke about being present in the moment, a lesson that I continue
to practice every day and take with me through my life. When I teach, I strive to embody this in my practice, sharing
about the lessons that I have learned through my life and how we can all be there working through it together. I
always appreciated a calm yet powerful presence, and I aim to be that within my own practice!

Ugh, how can I possibly pick?! My music taste is all over the place, but I always come
back to anything by Dolly Parton, The Chicks, or Post Malone. All time fave - “What a

why FBY?
FBY was the first studio that made me feel like my yoga practice could be my own. I am
able to be playful, messy, fall, and move to my own beat without feeling judged.

what makes you crazy?
Slow walking, literally anywhere and everywhere. I should probably work on this and
take some tips on how to slow down. But I’m a woman on a mission!

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?
I look for an instructor that is present, passionate, and pushes me to grow in my practice.
Someone whose energy is contagious, is down-to-earth, and makes me feel seen in the studio. I
try to bring the same energy to my classes, ensuring that everyone feels welcome and has the
space to simply be themselves.
